Carlinhos Brown's Aesthetics

ARTS
Extremely connected to symbols, Carlinhos Brown admires beauty, allegories, forms, colors and textures. Be it through baroque art, which has a marked presence in Bahia, Indigenous paintings, African ornamentation or through elements in contemporary art, Carlinhos Brown is a master blender of images.
Currently he is developing this sensibility with dedication, avidly expressing himself through a series of paintings, which as of yet, has no date scheduled for a public exhibition.

JEWLERY
Tapping into Carlinhos Brown’s talent for imagery, the jewelry brand, H.Stern, made use of his visual concept to create a collection entitled Miscigens. The four lines that make up the collection were each given the name of one of the artist’s songs- Latinha, Aruanda, Magano and Indiado – all four inspired by Brown’s miscegenated art, presenting Indigenous, African and urban references.

This catalogue also resulted in a photo catalogue by Mário Cravo Neto and art direction from Gringo Cárdia, both artists who had already worked with Carlinhos Brown on the cover design of two solo albums thus reaffirming his preoccupation with the aesthetics of his work.

FASHION
As a trends setter, Carlinhos Brown has a unique style that breaks standards and pre-conceives expectations. In his performances, the creativity of his wardrobe and that of his band is evident.

This intersection led Será O Benedito to invite him to model at Phytoervas. Carlinhos Brown accepted and brought an instrument which then originated the concept of live music at fashion runways. After that, M.Officer invited him to participate in his runway shows at São Paulo’s Fashion Week during two consecutive years. During the first year Carlinhos Browin was only asked to model, but during the following year he innovated by creating a live percussion sound track while models worked the runways displaying the tendencies for that year.

During the summer of 2008 in Bahia, Carlinhos Brown flirted once again with this environment, promoting a fashion show at the Museu du Ritmo, as part of his event, Sarau du Brown.
